The business behind the bike
One bike.
Plenty of ambition.
Doug Moto is developing motorcycles and drive technology in the UK. We’re starting with Sulis: an adventure bike for the everyday ride and the weekends you keep free.
Start with the rider.
Our starting point is the rider who uses a bike all week and still wants to take the long way at the weekend. Sulis is being developed around performance, useful range, comfort and control, with the ambition to earn a place alongside premium petrol adventure bikes.
One bike to get right.
One launch model keeps the engineering, production and commercial plan focused. Europe and the United States lead the launch plan, with further regions to follow.
Our preliminary UK price is £17,995 on the road. Final specifications, production costs and the price still need to be confirmed through development.
The bits under the skin.
We’re developing an in-wheel motor, its power electronics and control software as one system, alongside a structural battery enclosure and integrated charging. Sulis is the first application, with the aim of developing technology that can also serve other manufacturers.
How we plan to fund the work.
Sulis is the motorcycle we want to ride. Alongside it, we plan to pursue paid engineering and powertrain supply for other manufacturers. Contract revenue could help fund development, taking a cue from Rivian’s mix of consumer vehicles and Amazon van work. Licensing is a later opportunity once the technology is proven.
Where we are today.
The work so far covers architecture, requirements, simulation and concept design. The figures on this site are development objectives and model estimates; they still need to be demonstrated on hardware and on a riding prototype.
Next, make it real.
Prove the drive and battery.
Bench testing to check torque delivery, thermal behaviour and charging against the development objectives.
Get out and ride.
An instrumented prototype to measure range and charging, and evaluate handling and comfort.
Get ready to deliver.
Confirm production costs and suppliers, the servicing and warranty plan, and the approvals for each launch market.
Engineering with a purpose.
Our work brings together power electronics, vehicle integration and motorsport engineering, with the rider at the centre of the plan.
The investor conversation covers the team to build, the development and funding plan, cost assumptions and IP arrangements.
Let’s talk
Bikes.
And business.
